President Reagan and the ‘Iran Deception’
In reading the letters (Dec. 27), my personal feeling is that President Reagan is just too old for the highest seat in the world--that is, to put full energy into it. This is not a partisan statement because all of us are growing older every day.
There is a minimum age of 35 to run for the presidency. Why not a maximum? I believe Social Security sets a maximum age and minimum age to retire and receive retirement pay.
I have been through the operations Reagan has had and is going to have. Believe me, your body just doesn’t get over it that fast. The President took four days to get to China and has to go to Europe several days early to “rest up.” He goes to sleep in conferences and even while meeting with the Pope.
It seems to me the maximum age for a first-time runner for the presidency should be 60 years, making him 68 when he goes out--or at the most the Social Security age of 65, making him 73 when he goes out.
It seems to me Reagan doesn’t want the work that goes with the job--but spends too much time calling athletes, Clint Eastwood and planning his next trip out here to California.
