Gestec Properties Running Restored Embassy Hotel

Gestec Properties, a Los Angeles hotel development and management firm that runs Ibis hotels in Anaheim and at the San Francisco Airport and plans to build an Ibis in Carson, has taken over management of the restored Embassy Hotel, 851 S. Grand Ave.

Remodeled and restored in 1985, the Beaux Arts-style hotel is furnished with turn-of-the-century furniture, with no two rooms alike, according to Christian Frere, head of Gestec.

The hotel, constructed in 1911, also houses a 1,640-seat theater with a stained-glass dome for a ceiling. The theater is used as a recital hall for dance performances and for television shows, Frere said.
