10 S.D. GROUPS GET TIMES GRANTS

The Times Mirror Foundation and the Los Angeles Times San Diego County Edition have awarded grants totaling $29,500 to 10 arts institutions here.

The grants include $5,000 each to the Old Globe Theatre, the San Diego Opera and the Combined Arts and Education Council of San Diego County (COMBO); $2,500 each to the La Jolla Museum of Contemporary Art, La Jolla Playhouse, San Diego Repertory Theatre and the San Diego Foundation for the Performing Arts, and $1,500 each to Centro Cultural de la Raza, the Children’s Museum of San Diego and the Museum of Photographic Arts.

The Times Mirror Foundation is the corporate foundation of Times Mirror Co., the owner of The Times, Times Mirror Cable Television and many other media holdings.

Dale Fetherling, editor of the San Diego County Edition, said: “These grants are simply a logical extension of The Times’ growing involvement in this community.”
