Stirling Named to Corrections Panel
Assemblyman Larry Stirling was appointed to the National Institute of Corrections’ 16-member Advisory Board, U.S. Atty. Gen. Edwin Meese announced Tuesday.
Stirling replaces Jacqueline McMickens, who resigned when she was appointed to the New York City Housing Authority.
Stirling (R-San Diego) sponsored legislation that established the Robert Presley Institute of Corrections at the University of California, Riverside. The institute trains correctional personnel and conducts research to improve corrections agency operations in California.
The National Institute of Corrections was established by Congress in 1974 to assist state and local corrections agencies.
