King Hussein spent two hours today with U.S. envoy Richard Murphy, who is trying to revive the dormant Arab-Israeli peace effort, but there was no sign of significant progress.

A source close to the talks told the Associated Press that there was a “good atmosphere” during Murphy’s meeting with Hussein and an earlier three-hour session with Prime Minister Zaid Rifai. But the source said the Jordanians complained about the recently revealed U.S. arms sales to Iran, which Hussein has called “shocking.”
