Decision on Elysian Reservoir Roof Postponed
A final decision on whether to construct an aluminum roof over Elysian Reservoir was postponed Thursday by the Los Angeles Board of Water and Power Commissioners until after the 1st District seat on the City Council is filled so the new member can offer an opinion.
The DWP staff contends a roof is necessary to protect the 7.1-acre reservoir from pollutants. Several community groups have protested, claiming that a roof would destroy the beauty of the reservoir and the surrounding area of Elysian Park used by hikers and joggers.
