Local News in Brief : Ex-Teacher Sentenced in Lewd-Conduct Case

Share

A San Fernando elementary school teacher who pleaded no contest to a charge of lewd conduct was placed on three years’ probation by a San Fernando Municipal Court Judge Friday.

Mario Juan Aguilera, 35, of San Bernardino, was also ordered by Judge James E. Satt to continue the psychological counseling he began shortly after the May, 1986, incident.

According to the probation report, Aguilera, a third-grade teacher at Morningside Elementary School, touched a 10-year-old girl on her leg and back and lifted her dress.

The girl told police that she allowed the teacher to touch her so she “wouldn’t get bad marks.”

Aguilera had taught at Morningside since 1982, but the Los Angeles Unified School District revoked his credentials shortly after the incident. He now is a stock clerk.

Aguilera’s probation requires that he not associate with anyone under 18 without an adult present. If he should violate these terms, he faces an automatic six months in County Jail.
