Brigham Young Beats Titan Wrestlers, 26-12
Brigham Young University, paced by nationally ranked heavyweight Jim Nielsen, scored a 26-12 wrestling victory Friday over visiting Cal State Fullerton in a non-conference match at Provo, Utah.
Nielsen, No. 2 in the nation with a 13-1 match record, scored a 4-2 decision over the Titans’ Bob Button. It was Button’s first match of the season.
Six of Cal State Fullerton’s points were scored by the Titans’ own nationally ranked wrestler, Ardeshir Asgari, who gained a technical fall over Dean Mitchell at the 6:17 mark of their 158-pound match. Asgari is ranked fourth with a 15-1 record.
