Two airport guards have been jailed for dereliction during the hijacking of a Pan Am jumbo jet last year, and some senior officers have been punished for negligence, Pakistani Foreign Minister Sahabzada Yaqub Khan told the National Assembly. Twenty people were killed in the Sept. 5 incident, in which four Palestinian gunmen stormed the jet at Karachi Airport. Khan said the commander of the airport security force, Brig. Gen. Tarik Rafi, was returned to army duty. The two guards, who were on duty at a gate believed used by the hijackers, were dismissed and sentenced to a year in prison, he said.
