WINTER SPORTS HIGHLIGHTS : Knapp’s 26 Help Make Louisville a Winner

All-Americans Andrea Knapp and Lynn Flanagan scored 26 and 18 points respectively for Louisville (10-2, 2-0) in a 82-40 San Fernando League victory over St. Genevieve on Thursday at Branford Park.

St. Genevieve was led by Ann Baida, who scored 15 points and had eight rebounds before she fouled out in the final quarter. Teammate Elizabeth Morelos scored 11 points and had 12 rebounds. Three St. Genevieve starters had four fouls entering the second half with Louisville leading 48-16.

Louisville’s Nancy Robinson scored 10 points and had six steals.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Oak Park 52, Bishop Diego 35-- Paul Fraley scored a game-high 16 points and teammate Sharon Carson added 12 points for Oak Park (8-3, 4-1) in the Tri-Valley League game.

Notre Dame 38, Chaminade 29--Senior forward Kristen Borella scored three straight baskets in the fourth quarter to lead Notre Dame--which remained undefeated in San Fernando Valley League play--to a road victory. Borella had a game-high 18 rebounds and teammate Vicki Hosek scored a team-high 14 points for Notre Dame (8-2, 2-0).

Campbell Hall 50, Faith Baptist 18--Maria Erra Alba and Margaret Archer each scored 14 points and Tracey Sylvester had a team-high 18 rebounds as Campbell Hall (8-2, 4-0) won its sixth straight Delphic League game.

Montclair Prep 34, Western Christian 21--Lori Oleesky scored a game-high 14 points for Montclair Prep (4-6, 1-4) in the Alpha League game at Montclair Prep. Western Christian (4-9, 0-5) trailed, 13-6, at halftime but outscored the Mounties, 11-7, in the third quarter to come within three points at the start of the final quarter.

L.A. Baptist 46, Village Christian 25--Senior center Kendra Frazier scored 17 points as L.A. Baptist (11-2, 5-0) remained undefeated in Alpha League play. Michelle Vail scored 10 points for Village Christian (4-8, 0-5) in the game at L.A. Baptist.

Marymount 53, Corvallis 38--Lisa Senette scored a game-high 22 points and had eight rebounds for Corvallis (6-7, 2-2) in the Sunshine League loss at Corvallis. Teammate Ingrid Hillebrand added 15 rebounds. Marymount is 7-7 and 2-1.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Clearview 45, Highland Hall 42--Wes Parrish scored 15 points for Highland Hall (3-6, 2-2) and teammate Kory Kipp had seven blocked shots in the Westside League game at Clearview.

Camp Kilpatrick 93, Southeast Lutheran 16--Lloyd Reid scored 20 points, Vaughen Harper had 18 points and 12 assists, and Eddie Walker had 17 points and 10 blocked shots for Camp Kilpatrick in the nonleague game.

WRESTLING

El Camino 60, Chatsworth 3--Mark Ellis pinned his Chatsworth opponent in 1:58 to win the 128-pound match and give El Camino Real its seventh straight win. Teammates Pietro Lungo, Tylyn Cook and Paul Hasson also won by pins.

Moorpark 32, Harvard 27--Although Harvard (1-2, 0-2) was defeated in the Frontier League match, six Saracens wrestlers picked up victories. Winning by pins were: Robin Kar (128), Will Silva (134) and Todd Selbe at heavyweight. Other Harvard victors include: John Lee (114), Scott Tanaka (121) and Jeff Goldberg (177). Moorpark is undefeated in two league matches.
