Costa Mesa : Police Recover $100,000 Worth of Stolen Jewelry
Police said Friday that they had recovered $100,000 in stolen jewelry and arrested a 24-year-old Huntington Beach man in connection with at least two thefts during the last five months in Orange County.
Al Vu Nguyen was booked on suspicion of grand theft Thursday night in Huntington Beach, Sgt. Max Wilson said. Nguyen is a suspect in a theft at the Bob Siemon Christian Jewelry Inc. store at 11666 Sunflower Ave., Costa Mesa, where he was once an employee, Sgt. Max Wilson said.
Police said Nguyen was carrying a 9-millimeter pistol at the time of his arrest.
Police recovered the jewelry Thursday at locations in Santa Ana, Anaheim and Huntington Beach, Wilson said.
Nguyen also is a suspect in a theft at a jewelry store in Fountain Valley, Wilson said.
Police said they are questioning Nguyen about a string of jewelry thefts during the last five months in other parts of Orange County, Wilson said.
“There is a possibility that he will implicate more people,” he said.
