La Verne : Hearings on Parks Chief

Share

City officials have initiated proceedings that could lead to the firing of Parks and Human Services Director Ray Kaldenbach, who has served in the post for 16 years.

The City Council began a series of hearings last week to determine whether Kaldenbach, who has been suspended with pay since September, should be formally terminated.

The action was sparked by a recommendation from City Manager William Sheldon, who said the parks director has demonstrated a “lack of judgment, leadership and initiative.”

Richard J. Silber, an attorney representing Kaldenbach, described the charges as “outrageous” and said there was no evidence of misconduct. The next hearing is scheduled for Tuesday.
