Candidates for the Los Angeles City Council’s 1st District seat have promised to provide missing information on their financial backers before Election Day, Tuesday. Three of the four candidates--school board member Larry Gonzalez, Assemblywoman Gloria Molina and community planner Leland Wong--failed to comply with a law requiring the listing of occupations and employers of contributors. The city clerk’s office gave them two weeks to provide the information, which helps the public identify what economic interests are supporting candidates, but by then the election would have been over. At a meeting of the United Neighborhoods Organization, an Eastside grass-roots community group, the candidates pledged to provide the information by Friday.
