Countywide : Voter Registrar Olson Will Retire This Fall

Share

Alvin E. Olson will retire this fall after 11 years as Orange County’s registrar of voters.

“Al has been thinking about this actually for several years,” said R.A. Scott, director of the county General Services Agency, which includes the registrar’s office.

“He will be 70 years old in August, and we have implemented the new voting system, which was a very critical thing in his career,” Scott said. “He has been pointing for this for several years.”

The registrar keeps the list of voters and supplies the machines and ballots used in elections, as well as supervising precinct workers and maintaining political contribution lists.

A new system of election machinery and ballots used at polling places was introduced last year and worked well, replacing a trouble-plagued system.

Olson joined the registrar’s staff in 1970 and became registrar in February of 1976.
