Navratilova, Lloyd, Shriver on Cup Team

Martina Navratilova, Chris Evert Lloyd and Pam Shriver have been named to the United States’ Federation Cup team which will compete in Vancouver, Canada, July 27-Aug. 2, the U.S. Tennis Assn. said Friday.

The three were instrumental in the United States winning last year’s competition, defeating Czechoslovakia in the final in Prague. The United States has won the Cup, the women’s equivalent of the Davis Cup, a record 12 times since its inception in 1963.

A fourth player will be named later.
