Woman Finds Daughter Traffic Victim
A woman on her way to work stopped to help victims of a traffic accident and discovered her 13-year-old daughter was among the injured. A 12-year-old girl died of her injuries.
Kristin Rapunzel Smith was in critical condition Friday with head injuries, said Cynthia Coleman, spokeswoman at Parkland Medical Center.
Jan Smith, a medical student who works at Parkland, stopped to aid the victims, her daughter Kristin and her friend, Jennifer Tatum Podley. The two had been struck from behind as they walked to school. Jennifer, 12, died. No charges were filed.
