6 Missouri Football Players Suspended, 1 Dismissed
Six University of Missouri football players charged with using a stolen telephone credit card have been suspended from the team, and another charged with a campus theft has been dismissed, Coach Woody Widenhofer said.
The suspended players, Widenhofer said, will not be allowed to participate in any team activity, including winter conditioning and spring practice, “and the time you make our football team is in the winter and the spring.”
The six suspended players are defensive backs Kenny King, 19, and Cordell McKinney, 19, of East St. Louis, Ill.; wide receiver Kevin Hagens, 20, and defensive back Jesse Holmes, 20, both of St. Louis; running back Roland Young, 20, of Springfield, Mo., and wide receiver Patrick Overshown, 20, of Houston.
They were charged last Monday, along with a graduate student, and released on $200 bond. The player dismissed from the team after being charged with theft is Kevin Fair, a defensive end from Midwest City, Okla.
