Local News in Brief : Pacoima Father, Son Shot in Family Dispute
A family dispute in Pacoima on Sunday ended in the shooting of a 4-year-old boy by his father, who then shot himself, authorities said.
Police and fire officials were called to the shooting in the 11900 block of Phillippi Avenue shortly after 9 p.m., Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Greg Acevedo said.
The boy was taken by helicopter to Childrens Hospital in Los Angeles, a hospital spokeswoman said. The man, whom police would not identify, was taken to Holy Cross Hospital in Mission Hills, Los Angeles Police Officer Jim McGhee said. Neither hospital had information on the condition of the boy or his father.
The circumstances surrounding the shooting are under investigation, McGhee said.
