President’s State of Union
Once again, I am sickened by listening to President Reagan insult the intelligence of the American public with his platitudes and ignorance. This year’s State of the Union address was vintage Reagan. No details; no problems. Everything’s great. We’re great. Problems? What problems?
The State of the Union address is meant for the President to inform the public and Congress about the problems facing the nation in the coming year; not to blather on about our wonderful heritage and the wonderful working folks around the country.
We, the American public, deserve to be told the truth by our President about the trade deficit, the state of education, terrorism, the environment, civil rights, poverty and health care.
After hearing the State of the Union address, I can only assume our President doesn’t feel these issues are very important. After all, he spent more time during the speech talking about Ben Franklin and the importance of prayer.
What about the National Security Council, Mr. President?
