LOS ANGELES COUNTY - News from Feb. 4, 1987
McDermott, Will & Emery, a major Chicago-based law firm, is opening an office in Los Angeles with about 20 lawyers from Memel, Jacobs & Ellsworth, the Los Angeles law firm that was dissolved by members last Sunday.
Memel, Jacobs’ clientele consisted primarily of health care providers and insurers. A statement Tuesday from McDermott, Will said the new office will “initially concentrate on health care law, litigation, corporate and securities law and taxation.”
“Los Angeles is a major and fast-growing financial center. Many of our clients are already there,” Chairman Robert B. McDermott said in the prepared statement.
The release noted that McDermott, Will has one of the largest health care practices in the country.
