Beverly Hills Boutique Owner Guilty of Arson for Insurance
The owner of a Beverly Hills antique clothing boutique was convicted of 10 counts of arson, conspiracy and mail fraud for causing the destruction of her business to collect $50,000 in insurance.
Diane Candoli, 52, was also found responsible for causing injury to firefighter Carl Urman, who became entangled in debris and injured his back and knee while fighting the July, 1984, blaze.
U.S. District Judge Laughlin Waters on Monday set sentencing for March 12. Her co-defendant, Angel Geogigrev Vultchev, 29, was convicted of the same charges. Vultchev, however, failed to return to court last week. A warrant for his arrest has been issued.
