San Diego College Baseball : UC Riverside Rally Beats SDSU
UC Riverside rallied with five runs in the eighth inning to beat San Diego State, 9-5, in the Aztecs’ season opener at Riverside.
SDSU led, 5-4, going into the bottom of the eighth, but Riverside (1-1) had eight hits in the inning for the victory.
Richard Pikowitz pitched the final 1 innings for the victory. Riverside’s Mike Eatinger was 4 for 5, including a double and a seventh-inning solo home run.
SDSU shortstop Steve Montejaro was 2 for 3 with a double and homer.
USD 10, Point Loma Nazarene 1--Juan Bonilla and Mark Trafton each had two hits and Dan Echeveste hit a three-run home run to lead the Toreros (1-0) past the Crusaders (0-1) in the season opener for both teams at Point Loma. Dan Newman pitched seven innings for the victory. Curtis Burton hit a home run for Point Loma.
