Producers, Film Extras Guild Resume Talks

Share

Negotiations for a new collective bargaining agreement between the Screen Extras Guild and the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers will resume this afternoon at the alliance’s Sherman Oaks office and both sides expressed guarded optimism that a settlement could be reached.

Thus far, the extras, who struck Wednesday, have set up no picket lines at studios. The primary cause of the strike is the producers’ decision to cut extras’ wages by 25% to 40%, a move producers said was necessary to cut costs to meet non-union competition.
