Nebraska, after making a schedule change, will open its 1987 football season against Utah State on Sept. 5 at Lincoln, Neb., and will play UCLA in its second game Sept. 12 at Lincoln.

Nebraska switched the Utah State game from Sept. 19, which is now an open date. Nebraska will play at Arizona State Sept. 26.

Bob Devaney, Nebraska’s athletic director, said that moving the Utah State game “gives us a chance to prepare for other games.”
