Vinnie Pazienza stopped Roberto Elizondo with four seconds left in the 10th and final round of a lightweight bout at Providence, R.I., to stay unbeaten and possibly set up a title shot.
Pazienza won eight of the nine completed rounds on all three judges’ cards while improving his record to 22-0.
Pazienza hopes to challenge International Boxing Federation lightweight champ Greg Haugen next. Haugen and manager Wes Wolf have said they would like to make the fight, but Haugen’s promoter, Bob Arum, has balked at the prospect of fighting in Providence, Pazienza’s hometown.
