I am a Filipino who is here in the United States for a two-month vacation.
I would like to thank The Times, first of all, for doing an excellent coverage on the latest happenings in Manila. I am glad that the siege is over and that Marcos’ attempt to return to the Philippines has failed once again.
I have always believed in President Cory Aquino’s credibility--a softhearted but courageous woman. I am also proud to say that I witnessed the glory of last year’s “people power,” which she led. It was truly an experience. Those who were there will agree that it was a moment when democracy found its place again in the Philippines.
