Teachers in the Inglewood Unified School District scheduled a one-day walkout for today to protest the school board’s withdrawal of a tentative wage agreement. The Inglewood Teachers Assn. estimated that about 80% of the district’s 627 teachers will join the walkout, judging from a strike vote taken earlier this month. Officials said the district’s 19 schools will remain open with substitute teachers, administrators and parents overseeing classrooms. District officials said they had to back out of a three-year agreement that would have provided annual raises of 7% when Gov. George Deukmejian’s proposed budget provided less state aid than expected. The district now is offering 7% the first year and subsequent raises tied to increases in state funding.
