Marine Copter Crash Kills 3
A Marine Corps reserves helicopter crashed in the rugged Trabuco Canyon area while on a training flight, killing all three crew members, military officials at the El Toro air station said today. It was the latest in a string of fatal crashes of Orange County-based Marine helicopters.
The cause of the Thursday evening crash of the CH-46E Sea Knight helicopter was under investigation, a base spokeswoman said. The helicopter belonged to the Marine Medium Helicopter Squadron 764 at Marine Corps Air Station El Toro, she said. Names of the crew were withheld pending notification of kin.
