“I’m so very, very pleased that someone has noticed that we at the Philharmonic are so involved with new and contemporary music,” said L.A. Philharmonic music director Andre Previn on Wednesday as he prepared to receive the Golden Note Award of the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers at the Beverly Hilton Hotel. An ASCAP member since 1952, Previn is the third musician ever to receive the award--after Quincy Jones in 1983 and Stevie Wonder in 1985.
