Ballot Flaws Reported
The City Council directed the city attorney to investigate after City Treasurer Alice DeLong complained of format inconsistencies and typographical errors in the sample ballot for the March 3 election.
DeLong, a candidate for reelection, asserted that the published ballot sent out to all registered voters may violate a section of the state elections code that specifies uniform type size and weight and uniform spacing in candidates’ statements.
DeLong’s statement appears in the publication in single-spaced block form, while others are double-spaced with indented paragraphs.
