Bomb Kills Man in Laguna Hills

A bomb explosion killed a man at 8:10 a.m. today outside an office building in the Orange County community of Laguna Hills. Lt. Bob Rivas of the Orange County Sheriff’s Department said that deputies are investigating whether the victim, who was not immediately identified, may have set the bomb. Rivas said the bomb exploded in or next to a two-door sedan parked at 23232 Peralta Drive. The force of the explosion ripped open the car’s roof as if by a giant can opener.

Deputies are investigating whether this bombing was related to a pipe bomb explosion in nearby Mission Viejo Monday. In that 1:25 a.m. incident, a bomb exploded in the driveway of a home, causing severe damage to a car but no injuries.
