UCI Tennis Team Splits Matches in Tournament
The UC Irvine men’s tennis team won a tiebreaker in the final doubles set to defeat Rice, 5-4, in the first round of the Las Vegas Michelob Invitational Tournament Friday. But the Anteaters lost to Mississippi, 6-3, in the second round.
Irvine won the first match when Julian Barham and Darren Yates defeated Rice’s Rod Burton and Todd Kros, 2-6, 6-4, 7-6 (7-4). The Aggies play the winner of a match between Southwest Louisiana and Maryland in today.
