Local News in Brief : Burbank Mailers Give Wrong Poll Locations

Campaign literature received by voters in six of Burbank’s 49 precincts contains erroneous information on the location of their polling places for today’s election, City Clerk Merle Maurer said Monday.

Voters in the precincts involved--5578, 5581, 5582, 5597, 5601, 5628--”should check their official voting material for the correct addresses of their polling places,” she said. The precincts are scattered about the city, and it was not known how many of the city’s 44,782 registered voters are in those precincts, she said.

The mistakes were contained in literature mailed out by City Councilwoman Mary Lou Howard and City Council candidate Michael McDonald Jr., a spokeswoman for Maurer said.

“Apparently, some campaign workers used working lists of polling places that we had made up early, without realizing that some of those polling places would be changed later on,” the spokeswoman said.
