Burglars who apparently used crowbars to break through a locked roof skylight took an estimated $30,000 worth of business machines and about $1,400 in cash from the Crenshaw Senior Citizen Club in the Crenshaw Shopping Center sometime during the weekend. George Cooper, a member of the 4,000-member center’s board of directors, said stolen items included two computers, a copying machine, typewriters, a word processor and three television sets. Much of the business equipment was recently purchased and was not yet insured, Cooper said. The burglars apparently used two meat cleavers from the center’s kitchen to break out of the locked iron gates protecting the center’s front door, Cooper said. Los Angeles police detectives were investigating.
