A Signal Hill man suspected of twice robbing a Sears Savings Bank branch in Downey was arrested, police said. Reginald Lee Grier, 35, was booked at the Downey Police Department jail for investigation of bank robbery and was being held in lieu of $35,000 bail, Police Lt. William Lund said. Grier was spotted a few blocks from the bank at 8764 Firestone Blvd. shortly after a robbery in which a gunman took $1,000 and fled in a car, Lund said. Grier was stopped at Lakewood Boulevard and Imperial Highway. The gun and currency were recovered from the car, the lieutenant said. An employee of the bank allegedly said that Grier is the same man who robbed the bank a few weeks ago, Lund said. The FBI is also investigating Grier in connection with several other bank robberies in southeast Los Angeles County, Lund said.
