Rig Driver Charged in Tavern Ramming
A truck driver accused of deliberately driving his rig into a tavern, killing one woman and injuring 18 people, was charged Wednesday with murder and 42 other counts.
Kenneth W. Metzler, 33, was to appear in Marion Superior Court today for a formal reading of the charges stemming from the Saturday night incident.
Authorities said Metzler drove his vehicle at speeds estimated at nearly 50 m.p.h. into the Benchwarmer Pub & Eatery. Metzler’s girlfriend reportedly works at the lounge, and witnesses said they had had a fight earlier.
