A 19-year-old was killed and two 17-year-olds were injured when their car overturned and plunged 250 feet into a ravine in the Santa Clarita Valley, the California Highway Patrol said Friday.

The CHP said the accident occurred Thursday evening on a remote stretch of Little Tujunga Road when the driver, a 17-year-old boy, took a sharp curve too fast.

Officer Ralph Elveria said none of the victims, all from British Columbia, was identified pending notification of relatives.

The two passengers, a 19-year-old man and a 17-year-old girl, were thrown from the car as it overturned. All three victims were taken to Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital in Valencia, where the young man died at 11 p.m. from head injuries, the CHP said.

The other two victims were treated and released, a hospital spokeswoman said.

Elveria said the driver was arrested on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter and was being held at Sylmar Juvenile Hall.
