Now, Let’s Wait Until Guerrero Delivers
The prima donna is back--early--and with the usual hero coverage in the sports section. When will Tom Lasorda, Al Campanis, et. al., realize the odious example such treatment of a failed sports figure has set? For being late, lazy, arrogant and clumsy, Pedro Guerrero has consistently received not only front-page coverage, but a salary shockingly undeserved.
This sports fan also resents the negative influence he apparently exerted on Mariano Duncan, who arrived here with abundant enthusiasm, a ready smile and lovely attitude. After staying with Guerrero, the change was dramatic and his worth went downward.
Please, give us a break. No more stories on Pumped Up Pete--until he delivers!
