Ventura Supervisors Reject Plans for Large Development

VENTURA — A proposal by TOLD Corp. of Newbury Park to build homes on farm land near Somis in Las Posas Valley, north of Camarillo, has been turned down by the Ventura County Board of Supervisors on grounds that the project does not fit into the county’s guidelines for orderly development.
The corporation had planned to build homes on 463 acres, with a three-acre commercial area, a golf course or equestrian center and a sewage treatment plant on the rest of the 922-acre property.
County planning officials said such a large development could adversely affect the county’s air quality and could lead to similar requests from other developers.
