Bellflower : Hearing on Signs Delayed

Share

The Planning Commission has agreed to postpone a public hearing on a proposed ordinance that would require 75% of all business signs in the city to be written in English until reports from the post office, the county Sheriff’s Department and the county Fire Department are presented.

Planning Director Lee Whitenberg said the commission wants to determine how crucial English-only signs are in emergencies and how important they are to mail carriers.

“We have met with some of these officials already and are waiting for a written report to determine if non-English signs are a problem,” Whitenberg said.

Whitenberg said the Planning Department will present its report at the next meeting on March 16.
