A Waste of Lamb Chops

Share

I was shocked and furious to read (Feb. 21) about the 200 sheep that were frightened by dogs, panicked and jumped to their death in the Santa Susana Mountains.

No one loves animals more than I. I felt very bad about the sheep. But when I read on and saw that they were going to be buried where they fell, or transported to a landfill, I really saw red.

Don’t tell me those sheep couldn’t be put to a much better use. We have hundreds of people actually eating dog food. Don’t you think some lamb chops or legs of lamb would taste like ambrosia to these hungry people? Apparently they died instantly, without any disease. Why were government officials so quick to find a way to dispose of good meat instead of thinking of the many, many people who could have had a nourishing meal?
