A 24-year-old French boxer who fell into a coma after losing a decision Friday night has died without regaining consciousness, hospital officials in Rouen, France, said.

Jean-Claude Vinci of Marseilles died Tuesday night in Charles Nicole Hospital in Rouen, the officials said.

After Vinci was defeated by Lionel Jean in the six-round bout, Vinci returned to his dressing room and talked normally with his entourage for about 30 minutes, then complained of a headache, began vomiting and fell into a coma.
