Clint Eastwood, a gun-toting cop on screen, is a gun-toting mayor when he’s off. His Honor is the only elected official among 162 residents of Monterey County with a concealed-weapons permit, the Salinas Californian reported Thursday. The 56-year-old actor-director-politician obtained a permit in 1983 to carry a .38-caliber handgun, explaining that he was the victim of “various death threats against my life, including that of kidnap in 1978,” said sheriff’s department Capt. Roger Chatterton. The newspaper said Eastwood declined to comment on the matter.
