World Indoor Track Championships Start Today

INDIANAPOLIS —
Indoor track, traditionally regarded as a preparation for the outdoor season, will have its first world championships this weekend at the Hoosier Dome.
The three-day meet, sanctioned by the International Amateur Athletic Federation--track’s international governing body--will begin this morning with the qualifying run for the women’s 1500 meters.
Athletes from 90 nations will compete for 24 gold medals.
