Kolender, Haidinger Chosen for Board

Gov. George Deukmejian has reappointed San Diego Police Chief Bill Kolender and appointed Rancho Santa Fe businessman Timothy P. Haidinger to the California Community Colleges board of governors.

Kolender, 51, chief since 1976, has been on the community colleges board since 1984.

A graduate of San Diego State University, Kolender is also a member of the SDSU Alumni Assn. board of directors and the executive board of the San Diego Criminal Justice Council.

Haidinger, 45, president of New West Ventures, is a graduate of Notre Dame and Stanford universities. He is also a member of the National Assn. of Small Business Investment Companies.

He replaces Jane M. Tolmach of Oxnard, whose term expired.

The appointments of Kolender and Haidinger, both Republicans, are subject to confirmation by the state Senate. If confirmed, their terms will expire Jan. 15, 1991. Members are compensated $100 per meeting, plus expenses.
