The first of five Satchmo look-alike auditions kicked off, fittingly, in New Orleans, Louis Armstrong’s hometown. Kenneth Feld, who stages the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus, is holding a nationwide search for a star and supporting cast for a musical based on the life and music of the jazz great. Feld is looking for two unknowns to play the young and old Armstrong for the show, scheduled to premiere in late June. Other auditions will be held in New York, Chicago, Washington, D.C. and March 23 in Los Angeles.
