Geraldo Rivera says he’s sorry he called East San Jose a ghetto on his controversial “live bust” drug show last December. The TV commentator told San Jose Mayor Tom McEnery last week that his remarks on “American Vice: The Doping of a Nation” were “unfortunate, ad hoc, ad lib, spontaneous, and probably flat wrong.” Rivera gave the location of a live drug bust in San Jose as “the ghetto side of town,” which prompted McEnery to write, “I am sure the apology will not be forthcoming, but I hope a little self-analysis will.” Rivera’s response began: “Surprise!”
