Soul singer James Brown said Friday he will play a free concert in New York this summer so poor children will get a chance to hear the “Ambassador of Soul.” “I’ll play for 99 cents, or for nothing,” he said. The Rev. Al Sharpton, a longtime friend of Brown’s, is helping to organize a nationwide campaign of speaking engagements and live performances for Brown this summer. “James Brown has given us the opportunity to put together a huge festival in Yankee Stadium this summer in July, a ‘Bring Us Together’ concert,” said Sharpton.
