Tustin : Savings Firm Robbed of $1,100 by Lone Bandit
A man who said he was armed escaped on foot with $1,100 after holding up the American Savings & Loan Assn. branch at 641 East 1st St. Monday afternoon, police reported.
A lone holdup man approached a clerk at 3:38 p.m. “The suspect gave the clerk a demand note that said, ‘Give me your money; I’ve got a gun,’ ” said Lt. Houston Williams, who added that no weapon was actually seen.
After getting the money, the man ran outside and escaped, even though Tustin police arrived exactly one minute after getting a call from the savings and loan, Williams said.
