NBA Roundup : Hawks Win Their Seventh Straight, 108-103, and Close In on Pistons

Kevin Willis scored 30 points and Dominique Wilkins added 27 as the Atlanta Hawks turned back the Chicago Bulls, 108-103, at Atlanta Monday night for their seventh straight victory.

The victory moved the Hawks within five percentage points of the Detroit Pistons in the Central Division.

Michael Jordan, who had 31 points, gave the Bulls a 94-91 lead on a three-point play with 4:20 left, but a three-point play by Glenn Rivers tied the score for the 18th time in the game. Willis made a free throw with 3:15 left, giving the Hawks the lead for good.

Willis hit a jumper and Wilkins added a basket and two free throws, giving the Hawks a 101-96 lead with 1:06 left.

Jordan and Dave Corzine both missed three-point shots in the final 30 seconds, and Willis had a steal and slam dunk with 10 seconds left to clinch the victory.

Charles Oakley had 25 points and 19 rebounds for Chicago, including a three-point basket with 14 seconds left to keep Chicago within range.

Milwaukee 118, Phoenix 110--Terry Cummings scored 22 of his 28 points in the second half, and the Bucks downed the Suns at Milwaukee.

The Bucks moved within two games of Detroit and Atlanta in the Central Division.

Cummings’ three-point play with 4:10 left gave Milwaukee a 107-97 lead, but the Suns got within five points on Larry Nance’s two free throws with 41 seconds left.

John Lucas made two free throws with 28 seconds remaining to ensure the Bucks their 11th victory in 14 games.

Walter Davis scored 28 points for Phoenix, and Alvan Adams added 24.

Indiana 107, Utah 102--John Long scored 42 points, including 12 straight in the fourth quarter, to lead the Pacers past the Jazz at Indianapolis.

Long hit 15 of 28 shots from the field and 10 straight free throws.

Indiana trailed, 85-75, but outscored the Jazz, 19-4, in the first six minutes of the final period to open a 94-89 lead.
